The Abbey of St Maurice at Agaunum (old name for St-Maurice) was built in 515 by the chief Abbey of the Burgundian kingdom, Saint Sigismond, over an older sanctuary where martyr's bones of Maurice buried in the 3rd century.

Numerous pilgrims including kings and princes wanted to share their attachment to the Thébains Martyrs by offering them gifts: statues, reliquaries, etc to enrich a liturgical and artistical collection which reflects all the different periods from the 5th century until now.

Arrival by car:
From Geneva/Lausanne: Take the highway N9 and leave at the exit 19 Bex, Lavey, Monthey-Sud. Turn left and follow the direction of Lavey, Bex for less than a kilometer. At the second roundabout, take the first right on the Route de St Maurice and then on the Route du Léman. At the third roundabout, at the level of St Maurice, turn right into the Avenue des Terreaux until the end of the road when you turn right. The Minotel La Dent-du-Midi is located on your left at number 1 Avenue de Simplon.

From Zurich or Basle: Reach the highway N9 at Vevey direction of Simplon. Then follow the indications from Geneva and Lausanne.

From Brig, Grand-St-Bernard and Italy : On the highway A9 (N9), take the exit 20 St-Maurice, Massongex, Lavey and follow the direction of St-Maurice. On the Route du Léman, take a left on the Avenue du Simplon where the Minotel La Dent-du-Midi is located.

Arrival by train:
The Swiss train company CFF/SBB offers many daily international connections between France/Geneva/Lausanne/Montreux, Basle/Zurich/Berne and Brig/Simplon/Italy. Please check before departing.

From Montreux or Martigny, all day, you will take the regional train which stops at St-Maurice. The hotel is at a walking distance from the station.
